Development of the community

Development originally began in 1997 with the main construction of 204 homes completed in 2001. Forest Parks community is closely tied to the Shelby County park of the same name. Large brick homes and spacious lots define the architectural character of the community. Several lots remain to welcome new residents.

The neighborhood began as an upscale community of advanced professionals and retirees. Over the years, the peaceful mountain environment drew many families looking to escape the noise of the city while staying connected to it. Today, the community is a vibrant mix of families and empty-nesters, all contributing to the betterment of the region.

Forest Park History

Double Oak Mountain / Rattlesnake Mountain

No matter how its known, the unique east face of the mountain is home to Forest Parks. Traditionally the mountain formed the eastern border of greater Birmingham. The development of the 280 corridor in the 1980's allowed Birmingham's suburbs to push farther east, ultimately seeding the Highland Lakes, the Narrows, and Forest Parks communities.

The economic boom of the 1990's brought growth to the region as well. Boom times allowed Chelsea City to incorporate in 1996. Strengthened city services allowed development of Forest Parks starting in 1997.

Organization

The Forest Parks Homeowners Association is made up of community volunteers who are elected at the annual community meeting in the spring. Day to day activities are delegated to Eddleman Neighborhood Management company.

Vision

The Forest Parks 280 HOA's vision is to preserve the peaceful nature of our mountain community while striving to build a strong sense of community among its members. The HOA board shall search for new opportunities to increase the real value of the community at a faster rate than the greater Birmingham area.
